When you are facing an early morning flight or a late-night arrival at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), finding the right airport hotel is key to keeping your journey stress-free.
You want somewhere clean, modern, and completely seamless to get to. The newly opened Hyatt Place Montreal Airport (opened in 2025) ticks all of those boxes and then some.
But this wasn’t just a standard booking for us. Our stay actually came about because our Air Canada flight from Montreal to London yesterday was overbooked! We volunteered to take a flight the following day, and as part of our compensation package, the airline handed us a complimentary voucher for this hotel.
What started as a travel hiccup turned into a highly comfortable “bonus” night before our trip. Here is our honest, firsthand review of the hotel, it’s brilliant 24-hour shuttle, and whether it’s worth your time.

Volunteering for an Air Canada Overbooking: How We Ended Up Here
Airlines overbooking flights is a scenario many travellers dread, but if you have a flexible schedule, volunteering to take the next day’s flight can turn into a fantastic deal.
Curious about how the process works?
We’ve broken down the exact compensation figures, what we negotiated at the gate, and how to handle the process like a pro in our dedicated overbooking guide here.
For this stay, Air Canada provided us with a voucher that included:
- A complimentary 1-night stay at Hyatt Place Montreal Airport
- A voucher for meal at the airport restaurant
- Air Canada voucher for CAD$2,000
Knowing that Air Canada trusts this property to look after displaced international passengers gave us immediate peace of mind. We checked in feeling like we’d just won a little travel bonus.

- Check-in / Check-out: 15:00 / 12:00

A 5-Minute Drive from YUL Airport
Located in the quiet Dorval district just outside the airport perimeter, the hotel boasts a sleek, modern exterior that stands out immediately. It’s remarkably easy to get to, making it a perfect launchpad for international travel.
Reliable 24-Hour Complimentary Shuttle Service

The absolute best feature of this hotel is its 24/7 complimentary airport shuttle, which runs every 30 minutes all night long. Many airport hotels curtail their shuttle services after midnight, so having a guaranteed, round-the-clock connection to the terminal is a massive selling point.
- From the Airport: Head to the designated hotel shuttle zone ‘exit 8’ outside on the departure floor. Look for the grey “Hyatt Place” branded van.
- To the Airport: Simply hop on right outside the lobby. The drivers are incredibly polite and more than happy to help with heavy luggage.
Bonus for Slow Travellers: The hotel is also just a 6-minute walk to the Dorval VIA Rail Station, making it exceptionally convenient if you are exploring Canada by train rather than just flying.
Room Review: Sleek, New, and Practical
Pristine 2025 Fit-Out

Because the property only opened in 2025, everything feels impeccably fresh and immaculate. The aesthetic is minimalist and contemporary, with neutral tones that instantly make you feel grounded after a hectic day at the terminal.

Crucially for modern travellers and content creators, power sockets and USB ports are strategically placed everywhere—especially right by the bedside.
How was the bed?

We stayed in a twin room. The beds were spaced out comfortably and were clean and cosy.
To be honest, though, as we prefer firmer mattresses, we felt the mattress was perhaps a little too soft for our liking. However, I imagine it would be very comfortable for those who prefer softer mattresses.
The pillows were high-quality and moulded perfectly to the shape of your head. They were so comfortable that I almost wanted to take one home with me.
The Famous “Cozy Corner”

Hyatt Place is famous for its “Cozy Corner”—a dedicated living space inside the room featuring a large L-shaped sofa and a proper desk. This was a lifesaver for us. It gave us plenty of room to lay out our carry-on bags, and provided a comfortable workspace to open up the laptop and get some blogging done without feeling cramped.
In-Room Amenities

The room comes equipped with a Nespresso machine for a tasty morning brew, alongside a handy mini-fridge.

The bathroom featured a brilliant walk-in shower with fantastic water pressure—exactly what you need to wash off the stress of a disrupted flight.
Dining & Breakfast: An Absolute Bargain
The 11 CAD Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast wasn’t included in our airline voucher, so we paid 11 CAD per person (plus tax and tip) to eat at the hotel’s breakfast buffet on the lobby level.

Honestly, given current Canadian inflation and typical airport hotel prices (where breakfast can easily set you back 25–30 CAD), 11 CAD is an absolute bargain.

While they didn’t have a waffle station, they served up delicious, fluffy French toast alongside authentic, locally sourced Canadian maple syrup. Pairing that rich maple sweetness with savoury scrambled eggs and sausages is the ultimate comfort food before a long haul flight.
24-Hour Dining at “The Placery” and “The Market”

If you arrive late, the lobby features The Placery, a stylish bar and restaurant serving up quality burgers, pizzas, and craft beers. Right next to the front desk is The Market, a 24/7 grab-and-go pantry stocked with snacks, salads, and cold drinks. You will never go hungry here, no matter what time your flight lands.
The Verdict: Pros & Cons
Pros
- Flawless 24/7 Shuttle: No stress about early morning or late-night flight times.
- Brilliant Workspace: The Cozy Corner is unmatched for business travellers or digital nomads.
- Exceptional Value Breakfast: High-quality local maple syrup and French toast for just 11 CAD.
Cons
- Isolated Location: Like most airport properties, there aren’t many local restaurants or shops within walking distance. However, with the excellent on-site dining and 24/7 market, you don’t actually need to leave the hotel.
Final Thoughts: The New Go-To for Montreal Airport Stays

Our unexpected overbooking detour turned out to be a brilliant experience, largely thanks to the comfort of the Hyatt Place Montreal Airport.
If you value a pristine room, a fantastic workspace, and a seamless 24-hour connection to YUL airport, this is easily the best new option on the market. Highly recommended for a comfortable, stress-free transit stay!
