British Airways BA94 Flight Review: Essential Flight Info (Montreal to London)

The transatlantic route from Montreal to London is highly competitive and British Airways flight BA94 remains a popular choice for travellers seeking a seamless connection between Canada and the UK.

Before diving into the onboard experience, let’s look at the essential flight details, including the schedule and aircraft type, to help you plan your journey.

BA94 Overnight Flight Schedule (Departure & Arrival Times)

BA94 is a red-eye (overnight) flight that departs Montreal in the evening and arrives in London the following morning. The standard flight schedule is as follows:

  • Origin: Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) – 21:55 Departure
  • Destination: London Heathrow Airport (LHR) – 09:25 Arrival (Next Day)
  • Flight Duration: Approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes

Departing just before 22:00 means you can easily spend a full final day sightseeing or working in Montreal before heading to the airport. Arriving at Heathrow in the mid-morning is also highly convenient, allowing you to drop your bags at your accommodation and start exploring London straight away.

However, with a flight time of just six and a half hours, this transatlantic crossing is relatively short. Once you factor in the meal service, you will only have about four hours left for sleep, meaning maximizing your rest onboard is crucial for beating the jet lag.

Aircraft Type: Boeing 787 (B787 Dreamliner)

British Airways operates the Boeing 787 (B787 Dreamliner) on the BA94 route, which is excellent news for passenger comfort.

As a modern, high-tech aircraft, the Dreamliner features lower cabin altitude pressurization and higher humidity levels compared to older aeroplanes. This significantly reduces the dry eyes, scratchy throat, and dehydration often associated with long-haul travel—a massive plus for an overnight flight when you want to wake up feeling refreshed.

The cabin is also equipped with electronic window dimmers instead of traditional plastic blinds. These allow the cabin crew to centralise the lighting control, ensuring the cabin stays comfortably dark so you aren’t abruptly awoken by the morning sun over the Atlantic.

Getting on Board BA94

Starting boarding at Montreal airport
They started boarding

We boarded BA94 on the evening of Friday, 29 May 2026. The weather had been unsettled since that afternoon, with strong winds and thunderstorms.  Our flight was delayed following a delay of the arrival of this aircraft into Montreal. Boarding, which was originally scheduled to begin at 21:20, did not start until 21:40.

We took off at around 10.40 pm, more than 30 minutes behind schedule. Although there was some turbulence for a while after take-off, dinner was served approximately 30 minutes after we had left the ground.

There’s plenty of legroom. The seats were also very comfortable. As the backrests feature built-in contoured headrests, you may not need a neck pillow.

In-seat Power, USB Ports, and Charging Facilities

The seat features a separate controller and is equipped with a USB charging port. As the screen angle is adjustable, it can be positioned so that it remains easy to view even if the passenger in the front seat reclines their seat.

Inflight Meal Review: Dinner and Breakfast onboard BA94

Post-Takeoff Dinner Service: Menu Options and Quality

Chicken and rice was served on board BA94

For dinner, you can choose between a chicken and rice set or a pasta dish. We opted for the chicken. The chicken, cooked in a tomato sauce with vegetables, was delicious, and it came with a side salad. It also included a small bread roll, crackers and cheese, and a mini cake, so I think it was a very generous portion.

Drinks and Refreshments: British Tea and Complimentry Beverages

As well as coffee and tea, a variety of juices and alcoholic drinks were also available. I ordered a gin and tonic and was handed a mini bottle of Tanqueray. When Mai ordered a glass of white wine, she was given the choice between Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and she opted for the Sauvignon Blanc. Personally, she would have preferred it to be a little colder, but it was still very tasty, she said.

Pre-Arrival Breakfast: What is Served Before Landing?

Breakfast was served about an hour before landing. It consisted of a drink and a sandwich, with a choice of either chicken and cheese or tomato and feta cheese. We both chose the chicken sandwich. The sandwiches were served piping hot.

Cabin Amenities and Inflight Entertainment (IFE)

Economy Class Amenities: Blankets, Pillows, and Headphones

On flight BA94, the economy class service included a small pillow, a blanket and a headset. The headset was in a reusable paper bag, designed so that passengers could later insert change to make a donation.

Inflight Entertainment Selection: Movies, TV Shows, and Audio

The in-flight entertainment included films and music. However, BA94 is a night flight with a rather awkward flight duration of around six hours. As we’d rather get as much sleep as possible than watch films, I don’t think the quality of the entertainment is really an issue.

Arriving at London Heathrow Terminal 5

9:50 We landed

Although we departed more than 30 minutes late, our landing time at Heathrow Airport wasn’t delayed by that much. We landed at around 9.50 am local time on 30 May. However, it took more time to get the terminal building after landing than we expected.

10:26 Left the Aircraft

Even though we had landed at Heathrow we had to take a bus on deplaning which was a mild nuisance. The problem was that they struggled to organise the buses, so we had to wait standing in the aisle with our cabin luggage. It was 10.26 am by the time we left the aircraft and boarded the bus to the terminal building.

10:37 Arrived at the Terminal 5 Building

The bus drove  around the airport, and we finally arrived at the terminal building at 10.37 am. It had taken about 50 minutes from the time we landed at Heathrow Airport.

10:43 Passed Through the Immigration

Once inside the terminal building, things went smoothly, and we were able to pass through the immigration by 10.43 am using the E-gates.

Our stay in the UK has begun!

On our journey from Montreal to London, we experienced a 24-hour delay due to Air Canada overbooking, but we’ve finally arrived in the UK. We’ll be staying in New Milton, a town in the south of England. We’ll be sharing updates on our three-week stay in the UK via our blog and Instagram, so stay tuned!
