The standout feature of Studio One Thamrin is, without a doubt, its prime location.
The hotel is located a mere 3-minute walk from BNI City Station (Sudirman Baru). If you are arriving in Jakarta via the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link (KA Bandara), you can hop off the train and walk straight to the hotel in moments—no need to negotiate Jakarta’s notorious traffic jams or hail a Grab driver after a long flight.
For budget travellers and transit passengers, this seamless connection makes it one of the most practical transit hubs in the Thamrin area.
Our Essential Prep Base for Raja Ampat Expeditions
We have made a habit of staying at Studio One Thamrin every time we travel to Raja Ampat via Sorong. Beyond its proximity to the airport train, it is within easy walking distance (or a quick MRT ride) to an official GraPari store to sort out our Telkomsel SIM cards and top-rated money changers to get local Rupiah before flying off the grid. It is the ultimate prep station before heading to remote islands!

The Room: Clean, Functional, and Well-Equipped
We booked a standard Double Room. Overall, the space was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained for a budget hotel.
Bed Comfort & Layout
The bed was spacious and cleanly made with crisp linens. The mattress leaned towards the firmer side—which we personally prefer for a good night’s sleep—though the pillows were slightly on the softer side.
One small detail to keep in mind for digital nomads or heavy tech users: there was only one electrical socket near the bedside, so bringing a multi-plug adapter or power bank is recommended if you need to charge multiple devices overnight.
In-Room Amenities & Facilities
For a compact city hotel, the room was surprisingly well-outfitted with useful furniture:
- Air Conditioning: The AC worked brilliantly, cooling the room quickly and quietly—a must-have in Jakarta’s heat.
- A functional work desk and chair
- Large mirror and wardrobe
- Wall-mounted television
- Telephone and bedside lighting
- Shelves with drawers for easy organization
Water & Hot Drinks Setup
You will find a water decanter and clean glasses on the desk, but there is no electric kettle in the room. Instead, the hotel operates an eco-friendly system with filtered water dispensers located in the corridors, supplying both hot and cold water whenever you need a refill.
Complimentary tea and coffee are not placed in the individual rooms; instead, a dedicated tea and coffee station is set up on the ground floor next to reception.
Washbasin Placement
Interestingly, the washbasin is located inside the main bedroom area rather than inside the bathroom. Note that soap and hand wash are not provided, so you will need to pack your own travel soap or hand sanitizer.
The Bathroom: Basic & Clean
The en-suite bathroom was clean and functional, sticking to a minimalist wet-room design common in South East Asian budget accommodation.
- Wet Room Design: There is no glass partition or curtain separating the shower from the toilet area, meaning the floor will get wet when you shower.
- Water Pressure & Temperature: The shower provided reliable hot water with adequate water pressure.
- Provided Amenities: Bath towels, a foot mat, toilet paper, and a wall-dispensed shampoo were provided. (Again, bring your own bar or liquid soap).
Wi-Fi Performance
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. While the connection in the lobby and communal areas was consistently fast, the Wi-Fi signal inside our room was occasionally unstable. If you rely heavily on high-speed internet for remote work or video calls, you may need to step down to the reception area or rely on a local SIM/eSIM for backup.
Service Highlight: Exceptional Long-Term Luggage Storage
What truly elevated our stay at Studio One Thamrin was the exceptional customer service. The front desk team was warm, welcoming, and spoke fluent English, making check-in and communication completely effortless.
However, the real test of their hospitality came with a special request: we needed a secure place to store our large suitcases for over five weeks (from 10th December through to 16th January) while we travelled light through other regions of Indonesia.
We booked our initial stay on the condition that they would hold our luggage during our absence. They agreed without hesitation, handled our suitcases with absolute professionalism, and kept them completely safe in secure storage. When we returned to Jakarta weeks later, our luggage was returned to us in perfect condition.
For long-term travellers exploring Indonesia in stages, this level of service and trustworthiness is invaluable.
Easy Early-Morning Airport Transfers for Early Flights
While the airport train at BNI City Station is brilliant during the day, it doesn’t operate during the early hours of the morning. When catching an early-morning flight out of Jakarta, we simply booked a Grab car in advance directly from the hotel lobby. Even at 4:00 AM, the driver arrived within minutes, and with Jakarta’s notorious traffic completely clear at that hour, the trip to Soekarno-Hatta Airport was fast, affordable, and totally stress-free.

Final Verdict: Is Studio One Thamrin Worth It?
Studio One Thamrin Hotel is an excellent budget choice for travellers prioritizing location, convenience, and reliable service in central Jakarta.
While it lacks a few minor room frills (like in-room kettles or hand soap), its 3-minute walk to BNI City Airport Station, clean rooms, powerful AC, and amazingly helpful staff—who went above and beyond to store our luggage for over a month—make it a hotel we would gladly return to and recommend.
