If you are heading to the hotel the evening before your flight, getting to Heathrow Terminal 4 from central London is very straightforward. Here are the three best options depending on your budget and starting point:
- Option 1: The Best All-Rounder – The Elizabeth Line
- Why choose it: It is the most convenient, direct, and modern way to travel.
- How to do it: Board a train bound for “Heathrow Terminal 4” from major stations like Paddington, Tottenham Court Road, or Liverpool Street. It takes roughly 30–40 minutes to reach the T4 underground station without any changes.
- Note: If you accidentally board a train for Terminal 5, simply hop off at “Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3” and catch the free transfer train over to Terminal 4.
- Option 2: The Fastest Option – Heathrow Express
- Why choose it: Perfect if you want to minimise travel time and ride in premium comfort.
- How to do it: Take the train from Paddington Station, which whisks you to “Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3” in just 15 minutes. From there, change to the opposite side of the same platform and jump on the free transfer train to Terminal 4 (a quick 4-minute hop).
- Option 3: The Budget Option – The Piccadilly Line (Underground)
- Why choose it: It takes the longest, but it is by far the most economical choice.
- How to do it: Hop on a westbound Piccadilly Line train marked “via Heathrow Terminal 4” (or terminating at T4) from central spots like Piccadilly Circus or Covent Garden. The journey takes around 50 to 60 minutes straight to the T4 station.

The greatest advantage of this hotel is its location, featuring a direct indoor walkway connected right to the terminal.
Getting from Terminal 4 to the hotel is incredibly simple:
- Step 1: Head to the Terminal 4 Departures Level (Near Zone G) Once you arrive at T4, make your way up to the Departures floor. Near the very end at Zone G, you will find the entrance to the covered walkway leading to the hotel.
- Step 2: Walk through the fully enclosed walkway Walk straight through the glass-covered, modern walkway. The path is completely flat, making it effortless even if you are pulling heavy luggage. Best of all, you do not have to worry about getting wet if it rains.
- Step 3: Arrive at the hotel and take the lift down to the Lobby At the end of the walkway, you will enter the hotel building. The reception desk is located on the lower floor, so take the lift down to check in.
The Rooms: Surprisingly Quiet with Premium British Beds
Premier Inn is a massive and highly reliable hotel chain in the UK. They focus on delivering the essentials beautifully without unnecessary frills.
- Excellent soundproofing: Despite being incredibly close to the runway (you can even spot aeroplanes from some windows!), the windows are triple-glazed. The aircraft noise is completely blocked out, allowing for a perfectly peaceful night’s sleep.
- Hypnos beds: For a budget-friendly hotel, the bed quality is outstanding. They use Hypnos mattresses, a brand with a Royal Warrant in the UK. It offers the perfect firmness to relieve your travel fatigue.
- Simple yet practical amenities: Each room comes with a desk, kettle, tea and coffee, a hairdryer, and air conditioning. Many rooms also feature a proper bathtub, which is a wonderful bonus.
Dining: Great Value with the “Meal Deal”
The on-site restaurant, Thyme, offers a brilliant value package called the “Meal Deal,” which bundles your dinner and breakfast together.
- Full English Breakfast: A generous buffet featuring crispy bacon, sausages, eggs, hash browns, and baked beans. Even better, up to two children under 16 can eat breakfast for free when one adult orders a full breakfast.
- 24-Hour Costa Coffee: There is a Costa Coffee shop located in the lobby operating 24/7. Whether you land at midnight or depart at dawn, you can always grab a hot drink or a quick snack.
Important Details to Note Before Booking
While my stay was excellent, as a blogger, I want to keep it real and share two quick caveats:
- Free Wi-Fi requires realistic expectations: The complimentary Wi-Fi is quite basic and slow. If you need to upload large blog images or edit videos, it is highly recommended to upgrade to their “Ultimate Wi-Fi” for a small fee, or rely on your own mobile data/eSIM.
- No guest laundry or long-term luggage storage: The hotel lacks long-term travel facilities. It is best enjoyed as a highly comfortable and convenient one-night transit stop.
